Anybody suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis ?Read about the disease in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rheumatoid_arthritis . My mother(43) had it's attack when she was 15. From the last 15 years, she is living a life of Handicapped. She lives entirely depending on steroids. She can't stop it. Now, doctors say, that my mother can walk after some major operations. first will be in ilium-femur joint. They'll replace the ball-like joint with an artificial one. Doctors said that the operation has a great success history. Single operation costs about 3200 US$ . I want to know if anybody, or known to anybody had operated in such operation. I want to know the real-life advantages and disadvantages of that operation. Please inquiry thoroughly and answer..

Don't know about the operation, but before doing any operations you should look in to a drug called Doxycyclene. There has been a recent study to show that it can CURE many types of arthritis.

Although I have not had that specific operation I hope that I might be able to help. Although an operation might be your best choice and the closest thing to a cure you might want to look into natural remedies if you decide not to go ahead with it.
I've been using Emu Oil with glucosamine for a number of years. It isn't greatly expensive and I've found that it reduces pain and swelling whilst making movement a lot easier. I get mine from: http://www.emu-oil-well.com (they ship to the US despite stuff being in £s).
Good luck to your mum.
